General objective

To train researchers and fourth level professionals in Livestock Sciences with a research base in the sustainable management of agricultural productivity, in order to improve the efficiency of livestock production processes and the availability of quality agricultural products, contributing to the development of the productive matrix within the context of the country, region, province and community.

Specific objectives.

• To promote the theoretical-methodological and practical training of professionals in animal production focused on sustainable management, who demonstrate a high degree of scientific level, based on the complexity and integration of knowledge from different disciplines (Methodology, Experimental Design, Rural Development and Computer Science), in order to play a leading role and lead actions to increase and improve animal production.
• To develop competencies in the future professional, through methodologies, strategies and in situ practices, to solve the problems of the livestock system, through the establishment of new high quality production units that increase the efficiency of livestock herds, improving the quality of life of producers, guaranteeing the rights of nature and promoting environmental sustainability, for responsible development, contributing to the national plan of good living.
• To develop knowledge based on the competency-based training model and meaningful learning, based on didactic techniques and tools that allow for understanding the economic dimension of nutrition, feeding, reproduction and genetic improvement in ruminants and monogastric animals, emphasising the use of non-conventional raw materials and ecological agro-industrial by-products.
• To value the problems of animal production from an ecological and animal welfare perspective that respects cultural diversity, ancestral knowledge, intercultural technologies and the guidelines of the national plan for good living.
