The UTEQ Music School is one of the benefits offered by the University Welfare Unit with the aim of promoting artistic values and events that enhance the cultural and social development of the University community. Strengthening the development of students and encouraging artistic practices, whose synergy causes effects of cultural impact on local, national and international society.
The most outstanding students of the school have the opportunity to be part of musical groups such as: Polyphonic Choir, String Trio and D'donde Son (contemporary music group)

Objectives

Promote artistic-musical values that enhance the cultural and social development of the University community, strengthening the development of students and encouraging musical practices, through actions such as: performing, listening, creating, teaching, researching, disseminating, managing, whose synergy causes effects of cultural impact on local, national and international society.
Specific
- Making music in pursuit of artistic excellence.
- To contribute to the professionalisation of the role of the musician, offering academic training programmes in accordance with the needs of the city and the country.
- To constitute an academic platform for the construction of knowledge and support for the dissemination of music.
- To involve students through active participation in systematic musical training and recruitment processes.
- Establish exchange networks and engage musicians of high professional trajectory, Ecuadorian and foreign, that contribute to strengthen the training, dissemination and research processes of the School of Music.
- To promote the innovation of pedagogical strategies in the area of musical education that have an impact on local and national cultural development.
- To propose, stimulate and advise cultural initiatives in the field of music and education, which constitute an effective contribution to local and national cultural development.
