Faculty of Livestock Sciences celebrates 26 years of creation

The Faculty of Livestock Sciences closed its festivities with a flourish, holding a solemn session in homage to its 26 years of creation on 17 November.


The ceremony took place in the facilities of the experimental farm "La María", where the main authorities of the UTEQ, teachers, students and special guests were present

Gerardo Segovia, deputy dean of the FCP, addressed those present to welcome them to the ceremony, while Yenny Torres, dean, was in charge of presenting the report of work from November 2016 to November 2017. Torres indicated that during this period the teaching staff is made up of 62 academics of which 22.6% have a doctorate degree and 75.8% have a master's degree. He also mentioned four professors who have received their Ph.D degrees this year: íTalo Espinoza, Orly Cevallos, Jorge Rodríguez and Martín González.

"In this academic period, 9 research projects are being carried out that contribute to the line of agriculture, forestry and animal production; 8 of them correspond to the area of animal production and 1 to the agricultural area. On the other hand, we have delivered 92 new professionals to society: 53 agricultural engineers, 27 food engineers and 12 zootechnical engineers," Torres said. At the solemn session, awards were presented to the most outstanding employees: Best Teacher, Raúl Díaz Ocampo; Best Employee, Jaime Flores Muñoz and Best Student, Joel Vaca Freire. Also receiving recognition for their years of service to the institution were: Adolfo Sánchez for 25 years; Magdalena Herrera for 20 years; and Orly Cevallos for 15 years.
