On Wednesday, November 21, 2018, in the auditorium Carlos Cortaza González, with the presence of authorities, directors, coordinators of careers and students of the UTEQ, a socialization was held on the beneficiaries of financial aid and student scholarships for the period 2017-2018.

The event was attended by Roberto Pico, administrative vice-rector, who informed the students about the scholarships and financial aid, which are given to those who demonstrate academic excellence, high cultural and sporting performance, people with disabilities and those belonging to peoples and nationalities of Ecuador, and for their socio-economic situation, as established by the Organic Law of Higher Education (LOES).

Eduardo Díaz, rector of the university, indicated the increase in financial aid for 2019. He also spoke about the works being carried out on the central campus and at the La María Experimental Farm. "We will continue to strengthen our alma mater in infrastructure and academic excellence," said the head of the UTEQ.

The psychologist of the UTEQ, Mariana Rivadeneira, during the development of the programme expressed words of motivation to the students to make more effort and thus obtain the benefit of the scholarships for their academic, sporting or cultural performance.

She also communicated the services offered by the University Welfare Unit, among them: health care, general medicine, psychology, dentistry, music schools, theatre, dance, gymnasium, sports, etc.

At present, 793 economic aids have been awarded with 207 students missing to complete the 1000 scholarships contemplated for this year, according to the resolution of the University Council of the UTEQ, said Rivadeneira.
