With the objective of executing activities aimed at promoting the development of linkage projects, research, pre-professional internships, technology transfer, technical advice and training that contribute to the sustainable development of the province of Los Ríos.

The agreement took place in the University Council Hall of the UTEQ, where Eduardo Díaz Ocampo, rector of the UTEQ, and Johnny Terán Salcedo, prefect of the province of Los Ríos, signed the agreement on 17 October.

Prior to the signing, research professors from the alma mater of Quevedo announced the projects that will be carried out within the framework of this agreement, among them: "Application of biotechnology to the search and selection of PGPR to the control of phytosanitary problems cocoa and banana", "Phytosanitary problems in forest species", "Strategies for the treatment of cadmium in soils cultivated with cocoa", "Agronomic behaviour of Quinoa genotypes in agroclimatological conditions of the northern zone of the province of Los Ríos", etc.

The rector commented that nowadays it is necessary for the academy to be allied with the community, and doing so through the government of Los Ríos is much better. "We have outlined some strategies to carry out joint projects with the participation of UTEQ researchers and the transfer of technology to the agricultural communities of the province of Los Ríos through the provincial government," said the university rector.

For his part, the prefect of Los Ríos explained that the provincial government is focused on agriculture and reforestation, as UTEQ has some research projects.
