The media and university authorities met the participants at the event, which took place in the Shalom events hall.

Erica Zamora, a member of the organising committee of the beauty pageant, announced that the election of the queen will take place on 7 December from 18h00, for which a stage will be set up on University Avenue near the Faculty of Business Studies.

The dignities to be elected are: Queen UTEQ 2016, Vice Queen, Miss Culture, Miss Elegance and Miss Confraternity. The additional distinctions of Miss Photogenic and Miss Friendship will also be awarded.

The artistic groups of UTEQ will be in charge of the beauty contest in which one of the 15 candidates will be crowned queen.

As a prelude to the night of the pageant, on Tuesday 6 December the candidates will parade through the main streets of the city in a procession with floats.

The participants are: Astrid Samanta López Vidal, Dafne Nicole Mendoza Delgado, Melanie Narcisa Palma Mendoza, Génesis Kassandra Giler Araujo, Lisbeth Jehovanna Rodríguez González, Sara Michelle Luna Macías, Cinthya Liseth Manobanda Molina, Melissa Monserrate Parraga Basquez, Laura Dayanara Santos Pacheco, Alejandra Elena Flores Pacheco, Jacqueline Lisseth Macías Delgado, Myrka Dayanara Villarroel Chávez, Paola Yomira Muñoz Ugalde, Carolina Liseth Nogales Villafuerte, Karina Roxana Zambrano Vargas
