UTEQ Agricultural graduates undertake a internship at Ohio State University (US), highlighting institutional leadership's commitment to international academic excellence.
The Universidad Técnica Estatal de Quevedo (UTEQ) reaffirms the commitment of its executive leadership to academic excellence and the international projection of its university community. On this occasion, Evelin Gisella Ponce Vélez and Génesis Ailing Pérez Kang, recent graduates in Agricultural Science, have been selected to represent Ecuador in the prestigious Ohio International Intern Program (TOP), an initiative administered by The Ohio State University.
Starting on 28th October 2026 and running for one year until 27th October 2027, the UTEQ alumni will undertake a paid internship at Fine Swine LLC, a company specialising in swine production in the United States. Their itinerary will commence with an orientation phase in Columbus, Ohio, prior to their direct integration into the technical operations of the programme.
The internship comprises two main technical stages: the first phase focuses on reproductive management, artificial insemination, ultrasonography, vaccination programmes, and biosecurity; the second phase centres on neonatal piglet care, maternal care during farrowing and lactation, and maternity unit supervision. Facing this milestone, the graduates emphasised that their primary objective is to acquire cutting-edge technology to return to Ecuador and implement substantial advancements in the national agricultural sector, adding that the rigorous theoretical and practical training received in UTEQ’s classrooms and laboratories has thoroughly prepared them for these challenges.
By promoting these international mobility opportunities, UTEQ continues to strengthen strategic global links that position the institution as a leading benchmark in higher education and agricultural research.
