An Interinstitutional Cooperation Framework Agreement was signed between UTEQ and the Agency of Regulation and Control of Phytosanitary and Zoosanitary (Agrocalidad) on 26 July in the University Council Hall.

The signing of the agreement was attended by Eduardo Díaz Ocampo, rector of UTEQ, Patricio Almeida Granja, executive director of Agrocalidad, and as witnesses of honour Cesar Litardo, president of the National Assembly and Xavier Lazo, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock. This agreement aims to develop research activities, technology development, training studies and internships or pre-professional practices, in order to improve the capabilities and skills of both parties.

Almeida said that through this agreement it will be possible to establish lines of research and cooperation, also including a social focus. "We have INIAP, which is the institution with the most PhDs in the country, and we have to take advantage of that. That is why we offer UTEQ the entire contingent that we have in Agrocalidad".

For his part, Díaz commented that UTEQ has a large number of research projects in different areas of national and international interest, especially in the agricultural and livestock sector, which require the support of this type of agreement to carry out important research projects.

"It is very important to sign this agreement in which we have placed great hope, because from this moment we can crystallize a continuous and sustained work with funding from both institutions and of course with the support of the MAG and the National Assembly," said the rector of UTEQ.
