On the 14th of October in the auditorium of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences of the State Technical University of Quevedo (UTEQ) 14 land owners received their PMI.

"

These Integrated Management Plans (PMI) are part of the activities of the community outreach project "Sustainable management of the Murocomba Protected Forest and its area of influence in the centre and north of the province of Los Ríos".

This project was developed by students and teachers of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences of UTEQ.

The owners of the land that received the PMI are inhabitants of the following sectors: La Milton Reyes, La Balsa, Las Palmas, Gualipe, Colonia de Salapí, La Reserva, belonging to the canton of Buena Fe and in the jurisdictions of Río Congoma, Río Amazonas, Río Amarillo and La 25 in the sector of La Bramadora in the canton of El Carmen, province of Manabí.

Darwin Salvatierra, UTEQ teacher and coordinator of the linkage project, said that this is a first stage that arose at the request of the different communities in the Daule Peripa sector.

""Now with the integrated management plans, they (the possessors) can access land adjudication and have their land titles so they can be subject to credit, access government projects, form social groups and access other benefits," Salvatierra said.
