Through the linkage project "Management of organic resources for the sustainable production of biogas and biofertilisers from biodigester effluents".

The project consists of contributing to the transformation of organic waste from animal production systems into bio-inputs and methane gas, as a strategy to mitigate the effects of climate change and enable the economic well-being, social, cultural and environmental development of rural families.

This project plans to implement 10 biodigesters for small and medium-sized producers in livestock, cattle and pig agro-ecosystems during the academic periods 2020-2025.

Through this project, the quality, operation and optimal use of biodigesters is guaranteed to improve soil fertility and obtain sustainable harvests.

The project is being carried out on the "Los Laureles" farm in the canton of La Maná, with a group of 11 students from the Agricultural Engineering course, under the supervision of the lecturer German Jacome.

In the development of the project, the students installed a tubular type biodigester that should produce biol and methane gas in 40 days, using farm pig manure..

"This project is an environmental alternative. The biodigester is a technology that can be implemented not only in rural areas, but also in urban areas, because it not only benefits individuals, but also becomes an advantageous project for biodiversity and its sustainability, that is, friendly to the ecosystem," said Jácome.
