UTEQ celebrated its 33rd anniversary

With a solemn session, the State Technical University of Quevedo celebrated its 33 years of life.

The ceremony was opened by the academic vice-rector, Guadalupe Murillo, who recalled how several years ago a group of high school students asked for Quevedo to have a university extension, and managed to get the Luis Vargas Torres extension. They then continued with the constant struggle until the first of February 1984, when the UTEQ was established.

Rector Eduardo Díaz read out the administrative management report in which he highlighted the achievements of the past year and so far in 2017.

Díaz pointed out that the university has managed to increase its number of publications to 47 scientific articles.

At this ceremony, awards were also presented to: Harold Escobar - Best academic, Juan José Reyes - Scientific merit, Magdalena Herrera - Scientific merit, Pavel Novoa - Research merit, José Muñoz - Scientific merit, Jorge Rodríguez - Best linking project, the students Mabel Pico and Glenda Mackilff received recognition for Best student as did Juan José de la Cuadra, Amado Coello - Best employee and Alberto Moran - Best worker.
