The event was held on 10 November in the main auditorium of the University of Quevedo.

Janet Franco, deputy director of the UED, in her report of work 2017-2018 announced the activities that were carried out during this period. She also said that this year the UED delivered to society 326 new professionals in the different careers offered by this university.

In addition, Franco highlighted that the UED currently has 7 teachers who are doing their doctoral studies in different countries of the world such as Spain, Colombia and Cuba; and congratulated those who have already achieved their PhD academic degree and encouraged other teachers to continue training for better performance in their duties.

At the ceremony, awards were presented to the: Best Teacher: Karina Plua Panta; Best Employee: Jonathan Cárdenas Dávila; Best Students: Business Management: Mónica Sevillano, Agriculture: Diana Gonzaga, Accounting and Auditing: Indira Escobar, Systems: Francisca Pantoja, Industrial: Ximena Cagua, Marketing: María Eugenia Zurita, Bachelor in Accounting and Auditing: Angélica Lucía Orbea, Bachelor in Business Management: Berthila Bautista, and Bachelor in Marketing: Cinthya Mesías.

Recognition was also given to this year's retirees: Edisson Fuentes Yánez and Alfonso Velasco Martínez. And for years of service to the institution: 10 years: Miriam Cárdenas, Freddy Guevara, Mariana Reyes; 15 years: Francisco Liberio; 19 years: Janet Franco, Pedro Intriago and Ángel Bolívar Yépez.
