The main authority of our alma mater presented the activities developed by the university in the academic, outreach, research and management areas.

In the academic field, he highlighted the many advances made in the area of training and education at the highest level. This is reflected in the fact that the institution currently employs 43 academics with doctoral degrees (PhD), and also about 70 teachers are pursuing doctoral studies at various universities in Spain, Cuba, France, Argentina and Colombia.

In terms of outreach, the rector stressed that it is a very important function because it is what brings communities closer to the university; he also mentioned that agreements have been signed which have allowed students to carry out their pre-professional internships and that many teachers have presented and executed several outreach projects that have had a great impact on the community.

In the area of research, Dr. Díaz highlighted the remarkable growth in terms of scientific production. UTEQ in 2016 and 2017 has ostensibly improved the quality indicators in this area, as the university's research professors have achieved 110 high impact publications.

Regarding the administrative management, Eduardo Díaz announced the works that were carried out during the year, among them the Sports Centre that has two multi-purpose courts and a synthetic grass court, 16 new classrooms of the FCI fully equipped, remodelling of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, construction of the first floor of the FCP, remodelling of administrative offices, and the most recent, the remodelling and expansion of the main auditorium of the UTEQ "Ing. Carlos Cortaza González".

The university authority added that the university will continue to work in all its strata with the aim of continuing to improve the quality of its processes and with the active participation of the institutions and authorities of our environment, to achieve the development of activities that result in the integral growth of the community.
