More than 1200 participants in CIDU 2020

For the second time in a row, the UTEQ Research Department held the Second International Congress on University Development CIDU 2020.


The event took place from 16 to 18 December in the virtual modality.

Renowned speakers from Spain, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, the United States and Ecuador participated in the keynote lectures offered at this congress. Experts in university development and the use of technologies, agriculture, sustainability and entrepreneurship.

There were 3 symposiums classified by faculty, Faculty of Business Sciences; Engineering; and Faculty of Agricultural, Livestock and Environmental Sciences.

The event was attended by more than 1200 participants from the different academic units of the institution and the community in general.

At the opening of the event Byron Oviedo Bayas, Director of Research at UTEQ, commented that the University of Quevedo is aware of the crisis that the whole world is experiencing due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however this is not a reason to stop the academic and research activities of the institution. "This CIDU 2020 aims to adapt working methods to a new scenario in which teleworking and digitalisation are no longer optional but essential. That is why the topics dealt with during this time are dedicated to the new modality that is currently being experienced," said Oviedo during his welcome speech at the congress.

For his part, Eduardo Díaz Ocampo, rector of the UTEQ, said he was satisfied with the high level of positive response to the invitations to researchers for the event. "We continue to generate science and knowledge, we want to contribute to our society by working with a lot of innovation and creativity to promote the establishment of new ventures and provide answers to society on technological advances," said the rector.
