UTEQ and the Zonal Coordination 5 of the Ministry of Public Health signed a specific inter-institutional cooperation agreement

Through a specific cooperation agreement between UTEQ and the zonal coordination 5 of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), Nursing students will be able to do rotating internships.


The agreement was signed in the city of Milagro on 26 September 2022 at the headquarters of the Zonal Directorate of Health and was signed by Eduardo Díaz Ocampo, rector of the UTEQ and Daniel Sánchez Prócel, Zonal Coordinator 5.

2023. The rotating internship will have a duration of twelve continuous months; the total number of rotating interns for the health establishments of the Integral Public Health Network and Complementary Private Network will be established according to the methodology of Planning Calculation of the Rotating Internship Programme, based on the regulations issued by the national health authority for this purpose.

The current student population of the nursing course is 736, and for the next academic period it is expected to receive more than 850 students, making it one of the courses with the highest demand for enrolment.

Inés Bajaña, commented that the students who have this process pending will be those who start in the first cut of May 2023 and that it will be handled in the most orderly and priority manner with pregnant women, people who are in charge of family members with health conditions or are under their care; and that the health externship program will be conducted in the units of First and Second Level of the Province of Los Ríos and the District Directorate 09D15 El Empalme belonging to the jurisdiction.

The signing ceremony of this agreement was attended by Yenny Torres Navarrete, Academic Vice Rector; Inés Bajaña, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; Jenny Maldonado, Director of Cooperation of the UTEQ; Maricela Díaz, Coordinator of the Nursing career; and Yulitza Villamar, Coordinator of the Rotating Internship.

In addition, there is also a framework agreement between both institutions that aims to establish an inter-institutional relationship of cooperation between the Ministry of Public Health and the State Technical University of Quevedo based on coordinated, articulated and complementary actions to promote the implementation of training, research, design, coordination, articulation, development of plans, programmes, projects and / or specific agreements that cover the areas described according to the competences of both entities.
