The event, which took place in the auditorium of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences, was attended by the main authorities of the UTEQ.

During the session, Mercedes Carranza, Dean of the faculty, thanked the authorities and special guests for their presence and presented her work report from August 2016 to August 2017, in which she pointed out the work carried out by the university teachers in the accreditation process of the careers that the faculty has. He also indicated that this faculty is composed of 48 professors of which 20% have PhD degrees, while 80% are masters and 10% of them are about to obtain their PhD. At this ceremony, awards were presented to the most outstanding employees: best teacher Juan Pablo Urdanigo, best employee Blanca Delgado and best student Jennifer Tapia. Recognition was also given to several employees: for their outstanding psychosocial contribution to Mariana Rivadeneira Intriago, for their cultural and artistic support to Adelaida Sánchez, for their scientific and research contribution to the Faculty of Environmental Sciences to Marcelino Guachambala and for their excellent performance on the grounds of the Murocomba Forest to Manuel Arcos Aza. Several professors also received awards for their years of service at the university. Betty González and Héctor Gomezcoello received recognition for 20 years of service; Fidel Troya received recognition for 25 years of service, and Elías Cuásquer received recognition for 30 years of service. Roberto Burgos and Faustiño Saldaña also received recognition for their 20 years of work in the administrative and service areas. The celebrations also included an open house where students from the faculty presented various academic projects being developed in the classroom.
