The Postgraduate Unit of the UTEQ started the first cohort of the Master's programme in Agricultural Biotechnology with a total of 25 professionals.


The master's degree was inaugurated in a virtual event attended by Yenny Torres, academic vice-rector; Nelly Manjarrez, deputy dean of Postgraduate Studies and Ana Álvarez, coordinator of the Master's in Agricultural Biotechnology.

Nelly Manjarrez congratulated and thanked those present for having chosen UTEQ as the study centre for their master's degree and added that this programme aims to train professionals in the area of Agricultural Biotechnology. Yenny Torres expressed the importance of generating biotechnology and solving the problems of contamination of ecosystems, improving the conditions of production and conservation of the different commercial aquatic and terrestrial species in order to achieve food security in Ecuador.

Darwin Suquillo Avalos, on behalf of the master's students, thanked UTEQ for the opportunity it gives to professionals to continue their specialisation.

Finally, Ana Álvarez Sánchez, pointed out that the programme responds to the essential principles defined in the mission of the University and directly in the training of fourth level human resources with scientific criteria that contribute to the solution of the country's problems from the generation and application of new knowledge linked to agricultural biotechnology that covers plant, animal, environmental and food areas that are developed in the territory of the province and Zone 5.
