To symbolise the start of the construction, the first authorities and the directors of various academic and administrative units of the UTEQ were present.

The ceremony included a tour of the construction area and at the end of the ceremony, recognition was given to the authorities of the UTEQ, and especially to Dr. Eduardo Díaz Ocampo, rector, for having taken on the historic challenge of giving this Academic Unit a building that will have classrooms, administrative offices, and all the spaces for the optimal development of the Faculty's activities.

Eduardo Díaz, in his speech, indicated that this new building has been planned with the needs and comforts required by this historic Faculty in mind, and that it will function in the best environment, such as the Experimental Farm "La María", which will allow it to successfully develop the teaching-learning process. Leonardo Matute, dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, expressed his gratitude for the decision of the university authorities to construct a first class building for the oldest of the faculties and above all to do so in such an optimal and suitable environment as the Finca "La María". The first stage of the building includes the construction of 12 classrooms with capacity for 40 students, administrative offices, cubicles for teachers, dean's office, secretary's office, board of directors, coordination of careers, sanitary facilities for students and teachers, air conditioning, internet points and fire prevention system.
