The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences celebrated its 34th anniversary.


To this end, a series of activities were carried out, culminating in the Solemn Session held on 25 July at the institution's sports centre. The session was attended by university authorities, directors, administrative teachers and students of the oldest academic unit of the UTEQ.

In the solemn session, the dean of the faculty, Leonardo Matute, presented his work report, which in the last academic period has benefited around 800 farmers in the productive sector, through linkage projects. On the other hand, Matute said that they have a total of 716 students, 370 in the career of Agronomy-Redesign, 260 in the career of Agronomic Engineering, 53 in Agricultural Engineering and 33 in Agricultural Engineering,53 in Agricultural Engineering and 33 in Agricultural Business Administration. 53 in Agricultural Engineering and 33 in Agricultural Business Administration. He added that through the efforts of the university authorities and the Postgraduate Unit, The procedures are underway before the Council of Higher Education for the approval of the Master's Programme in Agronomy: mention in sustainable agricultural production. During the ceremony, mentions and awards were presented to students with the best average for each degree course and faculty.
Best Student Carmen Cedeño García from the Agricultural Business Administration course; while the Best Employee award went to Daysi Tello Rizzo; Best Worker Gimmy Párraga Mora and Best Teacher Marisol Rivero Herrada. In addition, Recognition was also given to teachers who retired: Jorge Mendoza Mora, Pedro Rosero Tufiño, Víctor Guevara Viteri, Kleber González Olivo and Livintong Tapia Ortíz. Recognition was also given to the former Deans of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences since 1999: Leonardo Matute (1999-2002), Glenn Mera Hallón (2002-2011), Félix Valverde Cruz (2011-2014), Paula Plaza Zambrano (2014-2017) and Ignacio Sotomayor (2017-2018). Finally, the dean of the FCA expressed his gratitude to the rector of the university, Dr. Eduardo Díaz Ocampo, for the strong support and commitment to continue to manage works and benefits for the development of the FCA, among which we can mention the new faculty building in La María, laboratories and more equipment.
