Students from the Food Engineering course of the Faculty of Livestock Sciences are executing the linking project.

Promoting the Nutritional Health of Low-Income Families in the Marginal Areas of Mocache and Quevedo".

This project, whose purpose is to raise awareness of the importance of a nutritionally healthy diet, was aimed at families from the Ciudadela Mi País and the area adjacent to the 20 de Febrero Health Sub-Centre, who received training from university students on how to make biscuits from flour, oats and vanilla, with an emphasis on healthy and nutritious preparation. Verónica Puente, director of the project and teacher of the faculty, said that on 25 July the students shared their experiences about nutrition with six low-income families from Ciudadela Mi País, who were shown the importance of nutritional health and were given practical sessions on how to make biscuits. Karla Choez Tapia, Teresa Villavicencio Barros, Elisa Sánchez Macías, Billy Zhunio Rodríguez, Steven Mina Jara and Hernán Chacua participated in this practice. In September this project will be replicated in the 20 de Febrero sector of the Parroquia Venus del Río Quevedo, where the students will actively participate: Adriana Cherrez Zamora, Abraham Sabando Hidalgo, Kiara Alcívar and Erika Vanoni, after coordination with the leaders of this important population sector of the city of Quevedo, so that many families are trained and benefit from this linking activity carried out by the students of the UTEQ.
