At the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, students from the Agro-industrial Engineering course taught members of this congregation how to make sausage step by step.

The Frankfurt sausage; this as part of the project "Development of skills to transform raw materials of agricultural origin into food and non-food products in the area of influence of UTEQ".

During the elaboration process, the participants learned the technical formula to make 2 kg of pork sausage. Here they got to know the raw material, percentages and kilograms needed for its production.

The main objective of this project is to exploit the skills of each person through the knowledge provided by the students. This allows the students of this career to reinforce their competences for a better performance in their professional life.

A total of 60 students have participated in this training project, where they have learned to make different products, including: food products such as jam, cheese, yoghurt, sausage, candied and dehydrated fruits, alcoholic beverages, nectars; and non-food products such as soaps, disinfectants, detergents, softeners, among others.

José Villarroel Bastidas, project director and career coordinator, indicated that this work has been carried out since 2015 in different cantons such as Valencia, Buena Fe Quevedo and Mocache, i.e. the entire area of influence of the UTEQ. "These courses have been offered to different communities, associations, guilds and in this case church congregations, with the aim of transmitting the knowledge acquired in the classroom," Villarroel said.
