Melisa Cabrera, UTEQ teacher, is among the top 5 commissioners to integrate the Citizen Commission for the Selection and Appointment of the First Authority of the State Comptroller General's Office.


Melisa Cabrera García es docente de la Faculty of Social, Economic and Financial Sciences of the UTEQ.

She is an economist by profession, graduated from the Technical University of Manabí, with a Master's degree in Local Development from the University of Valencia-Spain.

She has always emphasised her interest in social issues, which has allowed her to obtain scholarships in high school and university preparation at the third and fourth level.

Cabrera has always been interested in issues of citizen participation, which is why he decided to apply for the competition to become a member of the Citizens' Commission for the Selection and Appointment of the First Authority of the State Comptroller General's Office.

Through a drawing of lots among the 30 best qualified in work experience, Cabrera was among the top 5 female citizen selection commissioners

The plenary of the Council of Citizen Participation and Social Control will call on citizens to file challenges against citizen candidates and delegates of State functions if they consider that the candidacies do not meet the legal requirements, for lack of probity or suitability, or if they are subject to any of the prohibitions or have omitted information to run for office.

Thus, the Utequsina teacher will be part of this important commission.

Melisa said she was very happy to have achieved this appointment on her own merits.

"I have always been interested in these issues of citizen participation, and it is a privilege for me to be one of those selected for this process. I congratulate the management of this honourable council that has conducted this competition with transparency," said Cabrera.
