The UTEQ, through the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and the logistical support of the Public Company Prodeuteq, organised the 'First International Congress on Forest Protection'.
Organised on 13, 14 and 15 September, the event took place in the auditorium of the FCI.
The event was attended by speakers from Ecuador, Venezuela, Cuba and the United States, which were based on themes such as: Forest Pathology, Forest Entomology, Forest Fires, Winds, Droughts and Frost.
Carlos Belezaca, coordinator of the Forestry Engineering course and of the event, indicated that this congress is the first to be held at the university and even in the country, as it dealt with topics of great interest on the current climate change.
"The objective of this congress is to promote the analysis and exchange of international information, knowledge and experiences among professionals, researchers and institutions linked to the protection of native forests and forest plantations," Belezaca said.
