Inclusive education is conceived as a process of addressing and responding to the diversity of needs of all learners through increased participation in learning.

For this reason, the alma mater through its project "Information and Communication Technologies focused on disability in the area of influence of the UTEQ" (F&C) seeks to support the learning process of people with disabilities.

The project is led by the teacher Orlando Erazo with the collaboration of Mercedes Moreira, who to date have worked together with two institutions for the implementation of the project: Directorate of Social Development of the GADM Quevedo, and Foundation of and for people with Down Syndrome in Santo Domingo (Fundación Down SD). During the first academic period 2021-2022, 12 students of Systems Engineering have participated. Half in the Foundation for people with Down Syndrome and the other half in the Social Development Directorate.

As part of the work carried out during the first academic period 2021-2022, a total of 136 direct beneficiaries have been counted, distributed as follows: Directorate of Social Development: 70 people with disabilities (52 men, 18 women) Directorate of Social Development: 43 trained teachers. Foundation of and for people with Down's Syndrome: 26 children with Down's Syndrome (9 boys, 17 girls).

EThe project seeks to offer information and communication technology tools to the community of people with disabilities in the area of influence of the State Technical University of Quevedo that will allow them to get closer to their use in their daily lives.

Applications developed during this period:

1) JIT: Interactive Games for all is a web application focused on people with intellectual disabilities. The application consists of a series of play activities such as matching, puzzles, memory and storytelling. This first version is expected to be used by teachers in charge of guiding people with intellectual disabilities in the learning process of different topics such as colours, spatiality, geometric figures and numbers. In the future it is hoped to expand the topics firstly, and secondly the types of activities.

2) PetFriend21: It is a game developed for Android compatible mobile devices, in cooperation with the Foundation of and for people with Down Syndrome Santo Domingo. Its first version is focused on children with Down's Syndrome. The general idea is that the child must be responsible for the care of a pet, a puppy.

To do this, he has to tidy up his house, feed it, take it to the park to run or play, take care of its biological and health needs. As this involves "expenses", the child must "earn money by taking orders in a bar". With the money earned, the child can take the pet to the vet and even buy food or toys. In addition, while doing all of the above, the child is transparently exposed to topics such as colours, vowels, numbers, counting and even money management notions. In this way, PetFriend21 is expected to contribute to developing the child's responsibility, while familiarising him/her with various educational aspects.
